Thanks for all the nice comments Travis uses these exercises to increase overall control which links to every aspect of his schutzhund routine. It helps to build focus and good work ethic i.e. long periods of work with less reward during the exercise so its more like a trial environment.
Its the same working condition for us, we don't get paid after every hour but at the end of the week or month, these dogs understand that they have to work at all times and will get the reward at some point.
He does this with all of his dogs from puppy age and they all grow up with the same work ethic even when they move to another home.
